Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
I want to book, what next?
Give us a call or email, and we will send through a registration form to get all your details, we will then find out a suitable time to book your session. We usually can book a session within a week.
How long is a session?
Initial sessions we tend to allocate 60 minutes. Follow up's 45 minutes. This depends on a variety of factors, such as complexity, energy/ fatigue levels, behavioural components; these timings are approximate and we use our clinical judgement during each session. The price is set per appointment regardless of time.
Will I see the same physiotherapist each session?
We like to ensure consistency with treatment so you will be allocated one physiotherapist. We do cover each other for holidays and sickness, but will always inform you if there is a change in therapist.
Do you offer evening appointments?
Dependent on availability and location, we do offer some evening appointments. Please contact us.
How do I pay?
BACs, cash or card.
Cancellation policy
We ask for 24 hours notice of any cancellations (we do have automated email reminders), if cancelled within 24 hours we charge 50% due to inability to fill the appointment.
Animal Physiotherapy
Should I give my pet pain medication before their appointment?
Yes, your pet should have all their prescribed medications as normal, this ensures we can assess if their pain is well controlled on their current regime and ensures ethically they remain comfortable.
Do you deal with insurance?
Yes, we ask for payment upfront but then help you claim with the insurance company.
Where is best in the house, do I need a lot of space?
We go with wherever your pet is most comfortable, a place with carpet/ rug is preferable, but we often end up on the sofa where they are most happy! We don't need a lot of space so please don't worry.
Do I need to do anything before the appointment?
No, if your pet requires a special diet we ask you have some of their treats/ food available.
Do I need to ask my vet for consent?
Legally we require this, but we do everything our end so you don't need to worry about organising anything. We have strong relationships with local practices so we don't usually have a problem getting this on your behalf. Even if your pet doesn't have any conditions, we still feel it important to liaise with your vet to work as a team.
How many sessions will I need?
This is very difficult to predict, we can usually get a better indicator after your first session. We very much know finances can be a constraint, so we show you what you can do between sessions to reduce the amount of appointments you need. We usually find fortnightly for one or two sessions work best for the animal to get to know us and to regularly monitor, but then we eak out the time as much as possible. We will always discuss next steps at each appointment and review after each session.
Human Physiotherapy
Do you offer human appointments in care homes?
Yes we do, we usually invoice the client/ family directly.
Do you offer sessions with two physiotherapists?
If manual handling requires, we have capacity for two physiotherapists to attend. The initial assessment will be done by one clinician, but if a second- pair of hands is required we can organise a double up, this has an additional fee of £40.
What should I wear?
Anything comfortable.
